Travellers arriving in klia2 have a number of transport options. These vary with destination and your budget.

Ride Sharing is legal in Malaysia. Ride sharing apps may be downloaded from their website or the store on your phone. ** Please note that this site is not endorsing any operator mentioned here. The information and links provided are provided to inform and there are other similar options available in many cases.

KLIA Ekspres, KLIA Transit

Fast electric train from Kuala Lumpur Central Station (KL Sentral)

Service is provided by Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL)

  • KLIA Ekspres Counter and departure is opposite the KL Sentral Airport check-in counters
    • At the South end of KL Sentral
    • When facing the steps/escalator up to Nu Sentral, turn right
  • KLIA Transit Counter and departure is in the main Concourse at the southern end
    • When facing the steps/escalator up to Nu Sentral, the counter is on your left

Two types of trains available (fare to KL Sentral is the same for both)

  • KLIA Ekspres
    • Stops at KLIA, then direct to KL Sentral
    • Journey takes 33 mins, including the stop at KLIA
    • Every 15 minutes during peak hours
    • Every 20 minutes during off-peak hours
  • KLIA Transit
    • Train stops at
      • KLIA
      • Salak Tinggi,
      • Putrajaya & Cyberjaya,
      • Bandar Tasik Selatan,
    • Journey takes 39 mins
    • Every 15 minutes during peak hours
    • Every 30 minutes during off-peak hours
  • Both services continue to klia2, so you can use this way for a quick transfer between both terminals
    • Fare is currently MYR2 each way

Buying Tickets

  • Online from the KLIAEkspres website or app
  • At the counter
    • ** Please note both services use a different ticket counter & entrance at KL Sentral
  • Get a discount
    • Pay at the kiosk rather than ticket counter
    • Online with a discount code
    • Through third party (some offer discounts)

Private & Rental Cars and Ride Share Cars

  • Private and ride-share car pick-up is from Level 2.
    • Inform your pick-up driver which gate you are waiting at.
    • Exit Gate 2 is close to the Information counter.
    • The Exit gates at the sides are generally less crowded
  • If you are collecting or looking for a rental car, the counters are at the Transport Hub on Level 1
  • Ride share services are legal in Malaysia. Download their apps from their website or your Android or iPhone.
  • Please note that Uber does not operate in Malaysia.
    • Uber holds an interest in Grab Malaysia.

Taxis

There are three options for taxi transport, available from the Transportation hub on Level 1.

  • Coupon taxi

    • Coupons are priced according to your destination and include any toll charges.
    • You may pay by cash or credit card
    • Pass the coupon slip to the driver. No further payment is required
    • Pick-up is at Exit 4 from the Transportation Hub
      • suitable for 3 to 4 passengers only.
      • Most of these taxis have a NGV tank which reduces luggage space.These are Budget taxis
      • They are a good option if you have only a little luggage
  • Metered taxis

    • Local taxis, using the meter, good if you are not travelling far.
    • They use the meter, haggling is not allowed.
    • Passenger pays any toll charge
  • Two types of taxi available
    • Budget – red and blue
    • Premier – blue.
      • The fare is about double that of the budget taxi.
      • They are generally larger with more luggage space.
  • 50% surcharge from 12a.m – 6a.m

Purchasing coupons for Airport taxis

  • Level 1, Transportation Hub
    • The taxi coupon booths are close to the base of the escalator (the same end as the Capsule Hotel)
      • Purchase a coupon for MYR 2.00For Metered taxis, there is a metered taxi counter in the same row as the other counters
    • All taxis leave from Exit 4
      • There are separate queues for Coupon taxis and Metered taxis

Buses

Free Shuttle services

  • Buses between KLIA and klia2
    • Level 1 (Bay A10) 
  • Free shuttle service to  Mitsui Outlet Park 
    • Level 1, (Bay A5)
  • Access by escalator or lifts (only C, D, G & H open at the correct side for access)

Shuttle Bus services

  • The Transportation Hub is on Level 1 
    • Follow the signs from the Arrival Area on Level 2
    • Catch a lift or use the escalator down to Level 1.
    • Ticket booths are arranged in the same row as taxi coupon booths (the same end as the Capsule Hotel) 
    • Purchase tickets at the respective booths or on board the bus.
  • Shuttle buses to KL Sentral and other Klang Valley locations (Klang, Subang, Subang Skypark, Shah Alam)

Other bus services

  • Buses further afield (Genting, Muar, Melaka and other towns)
    • Transportation Hub is on Level 1, follow the signs from the Arrival area on Level 2.
  • Tickets may be bought on board, or online.
  • Redbus is a useful tool to find and book the bus you need.
    • Identify which company services your destination, or make a choice
