Getting to KLIA

Travellers flying out of KLIA have a number of transport options to reach the airport. These vary with your budget and where you’re coming from.

Ride Sharing is legal in Malaysia. Ride sharing apps may be downloaded from their website or the store on your phone. ** Please note that this site is not endorsing any operator mentioned here. KLIA Ekspres, KLIA Transit

Fast electric train from Kuala Lumpur Central Station (KL Sentral)

Service is provided by Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL)

• KLIA Ekspres Counter and departure is opposite the KL Sentral Airport check-in counters
  • At the South end of KL Sentral
  • When facing the steps/escalator up to Nu Sentral, turn right
• KLIA Transit Counter and departure is in the main Concourse at the southern end
  • When facing the steps/escalator up to Nu Sentral, the counter is on your left

Two types of trains available (fare from KL Sentral is the same for both)

• KLIA Ekspres
  • Direct to KLIA
  • Journey takes 28 mins
  • Every 15 minutes during peak hours
  • Every 20 minutes during off-peak hours
• KLIA Transit
  • Train stops at
    • Bandar Tasik Selatan,
    • Putrajaya & Cyberjaya,
    • Salak Tinggi,
    • KLIA
  • Journey takes 35 mins
  • Every 15 minutes during peak hours
  • Every 30 minutes during off-peak hours
• Both services continue to klia2, so you can use this way for a quick transfer between both terminals
  • Fare is currently MYR2 each way

Buying Tickets

• Online from the KLIAEkspres website or app
• At the counter
  • ** Please note both services use a different ticket counter & entrance at KL Sentral (check location above)
• Get a discount
  • Pay at the kiosk rather than ticket counter
  • Online with a discount code
  • Through a third party (some offer discounts)

Private & Rental Cars and Ride Share Cars

• Private and ride-share car drop-off is on Level 5.
  • Domestic passengers should get down near Gates 1 & 2.
  • International passengers on Malaysian carriers should get down near  Gates 3 & 4.
  • International passengers on other airlines should get down at Gate 5 onwards.
• If you are parking, follow the signs to ‘Parking’
  • Two Car Parks are available
  • You enter the terminal building on Level 2.
  • Catch a lift/escalator to Departure Level 5
  • From Car Park A/B the lifts/escalators are closest to check-in rows G-M.
  • From Car Park C/D the lifts/escalators are closest to check-in rows A-F.
• If you are returning a rental car, follow the signs on the right as you approach the airport.
• Ride share services are legal in Malaysia. Download their apps from their website or your Android or iPhone.
  • Grab, Riding Pink (By women, for women), are two of those available
• Please note that Uber does not operate in Malaysia.
  • Uber holds an interest in Grab Malaysia.

• Airport Limo (service provider at KLIA)

    • Online booking is currently unavailable.
  • Budget taxis
    • 3 to 4 passengers only.
    • Most of these taxis have a NGV tank which reduces luggage space.
    • They are a good option if you have only a little luggage.
  • Premier Limo
    • larger cars.
    • 4 to 5 passengers only
    • recommended for those with more luggage or more people.
  • Super Luxury
    • 3 passengers only
  • Family Service
    • Van transport.
    • Up to 8 passengers

• Metered taxis

  • Local taxis, using meter.
  • They use the meter, haggling is not allowed.
  • Passenger pays any toll charge
  • Two types of taxi available
    • Budget – red and blue
    • Executive – blue. The fare is double that of the budget taxi.
    • 50% surcharge from 12a.m – 6a.m

Buses

Shuttle buses

• From KL Sentral (KL Main station) to KLIA and klia2
  • The Bus terminal is below the main concourse at the southern end
  • Exit the door to the right beside the stairs/escalator up to Nu Sentral
  • Use the lift or escalator to go down to the buses.
  • Tickets may be bought on board, or online.
• From Subang Airport, Port Dickson (Trans MVS Express)
• Other Klang Valley locations (Klang, Subang, Shah Alam)
